Mesh Systems’ Leadership Shares Insights on Microsoft Azure IoT Operations and Industrial IoT
August 13, 2024
At Mesh Systems, we pride ourselves on being pioneers in the IoT space, and our longstanding partnership with Microsoft has played a crucial role in our journey. Recently, Uriel Kluk, our Chief Technology Officer, and TJ Butler, our Chief Software Architect, were invited to share their experiences working with Microsoft Azure IoT Operations and its impact on Industrial IoT.
A Collaborative Journey with Microsoft Azure IoT Operations
The collaboration between Mesh Systems and Microsoft Azure IoT Operations began with a key customer who had a pressing need for connected products and plant floor integration. As TJ described, “Azure IoT Operations came to us through a mutual customer request, with a need for a blend of industrial automation and connected products. We went through the wall with them in the first iterations of how to leverage the initial IoT capabilities provided by Azure and quickly recognized the value that Azure IoT Operations could bring.”
Harnessing the Power of Data
In today’s industrial landscape, data is the cornerstone of decision-making. However, the data often comes from diverse sources and in various formats, which can make it challenging to manage. As Uriel noted, “Our customers are moving elements from data, and the data comes from many different areas with all sorts of combinations. Azure IoT Operations helps normalize and contextualize the data for DevOps.” This ability to streamline and make sense of complex data sets has had a meaningful impact on the operational efficiency of our customers, allowing them to focus on what matters most—improving processes on the floor.
Connecting Operations to the Cloud
One of the most challenging aspects of Industrial IoT is connecting operations and devices to the cloud. This complexity is not lost on us at Mesh Systems, but we have fully embraced the challenge. “Connecting operations and connected devices to the cloud is complicated and challenging, but we can bring AI, and our customers are delighted to see the outcome,” said Uriel. The integration of AI with Azure IoT Operations has opened new avenues for innovation, delivering outcomes that have exceeded customer expectations.
A Partnership Built on Trust and Innovation
Our relationship with Microsoft has been more than just a technical collaboration; it’s been a partnership built on trust and mutual respect. “We made a choice early on to embrace Azure in the cloud, and Microsoft’s product and engineering teams have been true partners. We’re almost 20 years into this journey, and it couldn’t have been done without our partnership,” said TJ. The close collaboration with Microsoft has ensured that we have the support we need, and our voices are heard. “We have engaged with people; they have our back, and they listen to our voices,” Uriel added.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in Industrial IoT, our partnership with Microsoft Azure IoT Operations remains a cornerstone of our strategy. The journey has been challenging but immensely rewarding, and we are excited to see where this partnership will take us next.
